Ellie is a Clone Misunderstanding
So, I' sure most of us have seen a story/prompt or two about Ellie being on the Teen Titans or Young Justice right? Here's my question, does she tell them about her being a Clone, or does she just omit that from her resume?
Imagine a scenario where Ellie is on a mission with her team (Let's say YJ for this). They are nearly done, when she gets hit by some type of Ecto-Weapon in the middle of the fight?
She is hurt, but shrugs it off and continues the battle. In the end, the team manages to come out on Top, and they return to Base.
The others are fretting over Ellie, asking how she is doing and if she needs ant help. She's never once been hit while in Battle, her Phasing Powers are stronger than even Miss Martian, so they are understandably concerned for her health.
She tells them that she's fine, and goes off to her room to rest, telling them to drop it.
Later that night, one of her teammates goes to her room to fetch her for Dinner. They knock on the door, but she doesn't respond. After a while, they decide to just open the door and find Ellie collapsed on the floor. She never made it to her bed.
They rush her to the Medical Station, and call in the League.
While there, they try to figure out what happened, but nothing comes up with the Weapon that hit her. (They took it after the battle for study)
Eventually, they get the results back from the Doctors. Her cells are dying at an alarming rate. Her energy levels are Unstable. Her DNA is deteriorating. She's Destabilizing.
She's a Clone.
All the evidence is there. Her DNA is deteriorating because she wasn't made complete, and her Cells can't keep up with the damage anymore because of that.
If this Ellie is a Clone, what happened to the Real Ellie? When was she kidnapped? How did they not notice their friend being replaced by a Clone?!
They need answers, and unfortunately Ellie isn't waking up any time soon.

Tony survived the attempted murder but ended up in a coma and after 2 years (after security breach) he reunites with Gregory while walking outside in a park or something and they both have amnesia and don't remember each other but have this feeling. A deja vu of some kind. But they are both like "wtf I've never seen this person in my life" yet they feel like they know each other. They have a feeling to stay and talk to each other but also a different feeling which tells them to stay away from the other (since Tony almost got killed and Gregory almost killed him, which neither want)
Or, if you ship them, it could be like "love at first second sight" when they cross paths. And they just stare at each other for a whole minute and longer.
Tony already befriended Ellis for the second time, since Ellis obviously wanted to be with Tony and make sure he's okay and that he'll regain his memories - yeah, Ellis is trying his best alright? Tony's mother and grandmother tried helping him "adjust" again since they need to start over with their relationship with him (which might not be an entirely bad thing?) and since he's been in a coma for 2 years (or however long you think ggy is from security breach, since Tony and Gregory (and Ellis later, Cassie might join) reunited after security breach. So it's been around 3 years before they reunite (when Gregory, Vanessa and Glamrock Freddy got already used to their "new" life together)

CHAPTER 2
I woke up with the sounds of the machines all working around me. I opened my eyes, blinded by the hospital’s bright light on the ceiling. I felt so confused, I couldn't recall anything of the accident but I knew something bad happened. A doctor entered, gave me a check up and asked me if I remembered my name and what my last memory was. I would have rather lost my mind. He then proceeded to explain what happened last night : I caused a car crash. I felt my heart tighten in my chest, the pictures slowly making their way back to my brain. Emily was severely injured, left unable to walk properly for the next few weeks; she probably won’t be able to play soccer anymore and Jonathan was in a coma.
Unfortunately, I was luckier than them and only got three broken ribs and a broken arm. The doctor said I should get better in a couple months however, they have to keep me until the end of the week to make sure there’s nothing more than that.
I spent most of the days crying in bed, the guilt eating me alive. I almost killed my two best friends and myself. Thankfully, the medical treatment I was prescribed numbed me enough to make the burden easier to carry. This week felt like it never ended, I couldn't wait to go back home and leave this awful hospital bed.
The medicines I had to take made me feel better. So much better, that I started to take bigger doses instead of decreasing it as time went by. When the doctor stopped my prescription, I realized I couldn’t continue without the treatment. Without the medicines all I could do was think about that day and the lives I ruined. I was going back to school after a couple weeks of staying home. I tried to stick to the rhythm again but I struggled to focus on anything else. I eavesdropped and heard people talking about a party in an abandoned place tonight; I thought about it for a second and linked the dots: I must be able to find what I need at this party.
As soon as I got home I opened my wardrobe and put on a short tight black dress with ripped thighs. I did my makeup and got ready to leave. I could hear the loud music from down the street; I arrived at the place and had to walk over people’s bodies laying on the floor. Everyone was high and the atmosphere was very odd but all I cared about was my drug.
I saw a bunch of people assembled in a corner and took a look. The plug was just behind that wall. I waited for my turn and walked towards the drug dealer. I was really surprised when I saw Ellie Williams, the girl I met during the Halloween Party. She looked just as surprised as me when she recognized me.
-Maya? I barely recognized you. So this is how you normally dress, huh? I knew Wendy Terrance’s style was not your normal style but… -I don’t really have time to talk, do you have Opiates ? I said cutting her. -Maya you’re shaking you’re ok?  -Just give it to me please, how much is it? -No I’m not giving you anything look at you, I don’t want you to kill yourself.  -Why do you even care ? Aren’t you just looking for new clients at parties ? You have a new client now. -Hey, look at everyone around you here, I know that you’re not a junkie and I don’t want you to become one. You shouldn’t even be here wtf are you doing here anyway?
I didn’t know what to say and avoided eye contact with her the whole time. I realized I started to get crazy and I felt so ashamed that she was witnessing all of this. She was so kind and I was acting like a pathetic drug addict.
-Maya, what's happening? Do you need help?
I felt my throat tightening as I answered.
-Yes. -Ok, take my keys and wait inside my car. I’m gonna come in a few minutes.
I took her keys and did what she said. About 10 minutes later, she came and joined me, she turned the car on and drove off. I didn’t say nor asked anything about  where we’re going. After a short while she pulled into a fast food’s  parking lot. We stayed in the car as I began to tell her everything that happened in my life since the last time we talked. She was very caring and reassuring. She proposed to get us some food at the drive. We talked about many random things, I saw that she tried her best to make me think about something else.
After spending 2 hours talking we were both feeling tired. She drove to my place to drop me off but seeing my street and my house brought me back to reality. I didn’t feel strong enough to face another day without opiates. I knew I would just get crazy in my room. Having her around me made it feel a little easier so I asked her if she wanted to crash at my house tonight and keep me company. I noticed a hesitating look on her face but eventually she accepted.
We went inside my house, it was such a mess. I tried my best to clean and make things look better but the truth is I haven’t been able to clean for the past week. My life totally went downhill and everything was so dirty but she didn’t seem to care, I guess she’s used to this type of place.
I installed her on the couch, I thanked her, said good night and went to bed. Everytime I fell asleep I was having the same nightmares with flashing memories of the accident and Emily and Jonathan dying. I couldn’t bring myself to sleep. I went to the kitchen to grab a glass of water and saw that Ellie was still wide awake.
-Are you not tired ? I asked interrupting her from staring at the ceiling -Not really. Aren’t you? -No, I can’t sleep. Wanna watch a movie or something ?  -Sure! She answered with a shy smile, I felt so happy to find an excuse to spend more time with her. -Maybe it’s time for you to watch this classic. I said taking out The Shining from my pile of DVDs.
She made space for me on the couch next to her and I pressed start. During the movie I felt her arm get behind my shoulder acting like nothing. I was starting to feel sleepy and laid my head on her shoulder as she began to play with my hair. She moved position to make us both lay down on the couch and grabbed the blanket to cover us. I felt safe and finally managed to sleep without nightmares.

Phantom Pains - Chapter 12 Snippet
Danny is sleeping.
He guesses it would be more accurate to say he’s in a coma but sleeping feels like a better fit, considering he dreams.
Nocturne is here, as he sometimes is.
He and Danny aren’t on the best of terms, exactly, but thankfully there seems to be some kind of unspoken truce going on.
He comes by periodically to report to Danny about the goings on of the waking worlds.
They’re not stories by any means, but it’s better than nothing.
This time, Danny has opted to change his dreamscape into the fields that sit between Elmerton and Amity Park.
He tries not to look into the distance, where a satellite dish peeks over the horizon.
Danny is laying in the soft grass staring up at the stars.
He wants to stop listening to Nocturne and his blunt, matter-of-fact way of speaking.
Like Jazz being a husk of a halfa is just afternoon tea.
Like Sam and Val committing atrocities in his name is as entertaining as a pee-wee baseball league game.
Like Tucker working himself to the bone enough that becoming AI isn’t actually that far fetched is just a walk through the park.
Like Wes grappling with autonomy as a puppet to Her is just a bump in the road.
Like Dani, no, like Ellie forcing herself to be someone else, someone slightly to the left of her, is as unfortunate as leaving clean laundry to hang in the rain.
He’s glad he and Nocturne don’t fight.
That doesn’t mean he doesn’t want to.
Nocturne bids his goodbye, but Danny ignores him.
He closes his eyes, and he dreams within his dream.

Dean’s POV
I could hear the Doobie Brothers even from where I parked the Impala outside of the last dive bar in town after having dropped Ellie off down the street to do some searching on foot. I yanked the bar door open, frantically looking around for any sign of Sam who’d been missing for the better part of four hours.
I breathed a sigh of relief when I spotted him sitting at the bar hunched over a glass. “There you are.” Sam looked up at me. I raised my eyebrows, arms raised. “What are you doing?”
“Having a drink,” he slurred.
I eyed the dark liquid moving slowly around inside the glass before looking back to Sam with a questioning look. “It's two in the afternoon. You drinking whiskey?”
“I drink whiskey all the time.”
“No you don't.”
“What's the big deal? You get sloppy in bars, you hit on chicks all the time. Why can't I?”
I glanced around the six other patrons, spotting only one woman who was in her mid forties with blazing red hair. I looked back to Sam, “It's kind of slim pickings around here. What's going on with you?”
Sam looked back down to his glass, swirling the alcohol. “I tried, Dean.”
“To do what?” He wasn’t making any sense.
“To save you.”
I watched him for a second before pulling out the bar stool beside him, realizing it'd probably be a while before I could get him out of here. I motioned to the bartender, “Can I get a whiskey? Double, neat.”
“I'm serious, Dean.”
“No, you're drunk.”
“I mean, where you're going...what you're gonna become. I can't stop it,” he said, defeated. From where I sat now I could see that the rims of his eyes were red. “I'm starting to think maybe even Ruby can't stop it. But really, the thing is...no one can save you.”
Although it's what I knew all along, hearing it come from Sam made my heart sink a little. “That's what I've been telling you.”
“No, that's not what I mean...I mean, no one can save you, because you don't wanna be saved,” he said, looking at me now. I kept my eyes on his, trying to understand where all this was coming from. “I mean, how can you care so little about yourself? What's wrong with you?”
I didn’t know what to say, so I just stared back at Sam when my ringtone cut through the tension. We both looked away as I pulled my phone out, not recognizing the number. “Hello? Yes, this is Mr. Snyderson.” A low, firm voice was on the other end when he said something that automatically made my heart sink. The urgency in my tone making Sam look to me. “What? Where?”

Ellie’s POV
It nearly killed me to see Bobby look so vulnerable in the hospital's bed. He was found unconscious in his motel room, but he didn’t look sick, he looked like he was just sleeping. I looked to the doctor, crossing my arms over my chest, “So, what's the diagnosis?”
The doctor shook his head, flipping through Bobby's file. “We've tested everything we can think to test. He seems perfectly healthy."
“Except that he's comatose,” I pointed out.
“Mr. Snyderson, you're his emergency contact,” the doctor ignored me, looking to Dean who flicked his eyes to the doctor. “Anything we should know? Any illnesses?”
Dean wracked his memory, “No, he- he never gets sick. I mean, he doesn't even catch cold.”
“Doctor, is there anything you can do?” Sam asked.
“Look, I'm sorry, but we don't know what's causing it...so we don't know how to treat it." I looked to Bobby, wondering just what kind of trouble he got himself into to get this way. “He just...went to sleep, and didn't wake up.”
- - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - -
We hoped Bobby’s last motel room he was staying in could give us some idea as to what happened to him. Sam looked back at us as he opened the door to the room, “So, what was Bobby doing in Pittsburgh?”
“Unless he's taking an extremely lame vacation...” Dean said as we looked around the seemingly normal room.
“I mean, he must have been working a job, right?” I assumed, the three of us opening cupboards, drawers, desks, but nothing even gave away that Bobby had ever actually been here. If it hadn’t been for the paramedics telling us the room number, I would’ve insisted it was the wrong room.
“Well, you think there'd be some sort of sign of something, you know? Research, news clippings...Or a fuckin' pizza box or a beer can,” Dean said as he loudly shut one of the dresser drawers.
“How 'bout this?” Sam said from behind Dean and I where he stood in front of the open closet. He pushed aside the t-shirts and pants to reveal the back wall of the closet filled with maps, obituaries, diagrams of flowers and mushrooms along with different herbs.
“Good ol' Bobby, always covering up his tracks,” Dean chuckled.
“You make heads or tails of any of this?” Sam asked.
Dean reached into the closet and pulled down a print out depicting a flower, “‘Silene capensis’, which of course means absolutely nothing to me.”
“Here,” I said, pulling the obituary clipping from the wall. “‘Dr. Walter Gregg, sixty-four, university neurologist.’”
“How'd he bite it?”
I scanned the page, frowning, “Actually, they don't know. They say he just went to sleep and didn't wake up.”
Dean took the obituary from me, examining it. “That sound familiar to you?”
Sam leaned against the closet doorframe. “Alright...so let's say Bobby was looking into the doc's death. You know, hunting after something-"
“—that started hunting him,” I finished, nodding along to Sam’s theory.
Dean nodded too. “Alright, stay here. See if you guys can make heads or tails of this.”
I furrowed my eyebrows at him, “What are you gonna do?”
Dean smiled, “I'm gonna look into the good doctor myself.”

Dean’s POV
“So you're Dr. Gregg's lab assistant?” I asked as she led me into Walter Gregg's office.
“That's right.”
I glanced around the place, the shiny oak desk, the numerous bookshelves and tall windows with the blinds drawn. His desk was cluttered with pens, books and papers like he’d disappeared out of thin air right in the middle of working. “His death must have come as a shock to you.”
She nodded. “Yeah, it did. But, still, to go in your sleep, peaceful...that’s what you wish for, right?”
“Yeah. Right,” I said as I looked back at the desk, picking up a book on sleep studies. “Dr. Gregg uh…studied sleeping disorders? Dreams?”
“I don't understand. I went over all of this with the other detective,” she said, seeming suspicious of me already.
I narrowed my eyes at her, “You already spoke to another detective?”
“Yes. A very nice older man with a beard.”
At least we knew we were on the right track if Bobby had already been here. “Well, I'd love to hear it again if you don't mind.”
The woman hesitated, “Thing is, I'm sort of busy. Maybe we could do this later?”
“Sure. Yeah. Just bring you down to the station later this afternoon, and get your statement on tape, do it all official-like,” I said, making her squirm under my gaze. She tore her eyes from mine.
“Look, okay, I didn't know about Dr. Gregg's experiments. Not until I was cleaning out his files.”
“His experiments...the ones he was conducting on...sleeping?”
“No one knew, okay? Not the university, not anybody,” she said quickly before defensively crossing her arms over her chest. “I already spoke with a lawyer and he told me I can't be held liable for anything.”
I racked my brain for anything to get this girl talking. “Maybe you couldn't, but that was before the new evidence came to light.”
She furrowed her eyebrows and shifted on her feet, “New evidence? What new evidence?”
I hesitated this time before settling with my go-to: “I'm not at liberty to say.”
“Look, I'm just a grad student. This was a gig to cover tuition,” she said, anxiously running her hands through her hair.
“Maybe so. But, uh, still, this- this...this could go on your permanent record,” I bullshitted, making her eyes widen slightly. “Unless you hand over the doctor's research to me. All of it.”
- - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - I desperately tried to keep my gaze ahead of me, failing as multiple college girls brushed past me in the dorm stairwells. I smirked over my shoulder, watching them descend the stairs until I’d made it to the room I was looking for.
I banged hard twice on the door, holding my badge up to the peephole. The kid slowly opened the door, the unmistakable smell of weed rolling out of the room. "You Jeremy?"
“Look, I don't know what the RA said, but I was growing ferns.”
I chuckled as I stepped inside, “Take it easy, Phish, that's not why I'm here.”
He visibly relaxed, “Really? Oh, thank god. Okay.”
I glanced around the cluttered dorm room. “I wanna talk to you about Dr. Gregg's sleep study.”
“Yeah. Dr. Gregg just died, right?”
I nodded. “You were one of his test subjects, right?”
“Yeah,” he said as he opened the small mini fridge behind him, holding a beer out to me before he paused. “Unless you're on duty or something?”
I glanced from the beer to the open door out to the hallway before shrugging, “I guess I can make an exception.” I took a long drink from the beer before opening up the files in my hands. “Now, Dr. Gregg was testing treatments for a ‘Charcot-Wilbrand syndrome’? Which means...?”
“I can't dream,” he said simply. “I had this bike accident when I was a kid and banged my head pretty good and I haven't had a dream since. 'Til the study. You know. Sort of.”
I frowned, nodding as I rifled through the papers. “What'd the doc give you?”
“It's this yellow tea. It…it smelled awful, tasted worse.”
“What’d it do?” Jeremy shrugged, “Just passed right out. I had the most vivid, super-intense dream. Like a bad acid trip, you know?”
“Totally,” I said instinctively before coughing, getting back into character. “I mean, no.”
“That was it. I dropped out of the study right after that,” he said as he took another drink. “I didn't...like it. To tell you the truth...it kind of scared me.”

Ellie’s POV
By the time I made it back to Bobby’s room, Sam and Dean were sitting at Bobby’s bedside, whispering quietly to each other, their conversation immediately dying once I walked in. I ignored the way their words died on their lips as I dropped my papers onto the small table at the end of his bed. “How is he?”
“No change,” Dean said, glancing to Sam and then back to me. “What’d you find?”
“Well, considering what you told me about the doc's experiments…Bobby's wall is starting to make a hell of a lot more sense,” I said, flipping the folder open.
“How so?”
I picked up the first print, handing it to Sam. “This plant, Silene Capensis, is also known as African Dream Root. It's been used by shaman and medicine men for centuries.”
Dean looked up at me, “Let me guess. They dose up, bust out the didgeridoos, start kicking around the hackey.”
“Not quite,” I chuckled. “If you believe the legends, it's used for dream-walking. Entering another person's dreams, poking around in their heads.”
“I take it we believe the legends,” Sam said as I handed them more papers.
"When don't we? But dream-walking is just the tip of the iceberg."
"What do you mean?"
"I mean, this Dream Root is some serious mojo. You take enough of it, with practice, you can become a regular Freddy Krueger,” I said, looking to Bobby. “You can control anything. You could turn bad dreams good, you could turn good dreams bad."
"And killing people in their sleep?" Dean assumed.
I shrugged, "For example."
Sam nodded, "So let's say this doc was testing this stuff on his patients, Tim Leary-style."
"Somebody gets pissed at him, decides to give him a little dream visit, he goes nighty-night,” I confirmed.
"But what about Bobby?” Dean questioned, the one piece of the puzzle I couldn’t quite place. “I mean, if the killer came after him, how come he's still alive?"
"I don't know,” I said honestly, hoping we could figure this all out before whatever got to the other victims got to him, too.
"So how do we find our homicidal sandman?" Dean asked as we left Bobby’s room, walking the halls toward the exit. I felt the anxious pressure on my chest begin to lessen the closer we got to the outside. Being in Bobby's room was fine, but the rest of the hospital smelled like antiseptic and old people.
"Could be anyone,” I said. Suddenly the case became a million times more difficult, not to mention dangerous. "Anyone who knew the doctor or had access to his dream shrooms."
"Maybe one of his test subjects or something?" Sam offered.
Dean shrugged at the theory. "Possible. But his research was pretty sketchy. I mean...I don't know how many subjects he had, or who all of them were." We rounded a corner as Sam scoffed. Dean looked at him in confusion. "What?"
"In any other case, we'd be calling Bobby and asking him for help right now,” Sam said.
At Sam’s words, Dean suddenly stopped in realization, a hand held out to stop Sam and I from going any further. I suppressed a groan, eyeing the exit just ahead of us. "You know what? You're right.”
Sam glanced at me then back to Dean, confused, "What?"
"Let's go talk to him,” Dean insisted.
I furrowed my eyebrows at the suggestion, unsure whether or not Dean was fucking with us. "Sure, but I think we might find the conversation a bit one-sided."
"Not if we're tripping on some Dream Root."
"What?"
"You heard me."
Sam raised his eyebrows, "You wanna go dream-walking inside Bobby's head?"
"Yeah. Why not? Maybe we could help."
"We have no idea what's crawling around in there."
"Well how bad could it be?"
"Bad."
"Dude, it's Bobby," Dean countered.
I thought about it, weighing our options. It was either that, or risk Bobby getting torn to shreds by this Boogeyman. Sam nodded in agreement. "Yeah, you're right. One problem though. We're fresh out of African Dream Root, so unless you know someone who can score some..."
"Shit," Dean groaned.
I furrowed my eyebrows at him, "What?"
"Bela."
"Bela? Shit,” I mumbled, shaking my head at the prospect. “You're actually suggesting we ask her a favor?"
"I'm feeling dirty just thinking about it, but yeah."

Sam's POV
I rubbed my eyes with the back of my hands, my head aching from staring at my laptop screen for what felt like forever. I glanced at my watch, counting down the seconds until I called Dean and Ellie to get back to the motel where I knew they were out just avoiding doing research.
Just as I brought my eyes back up to the screen, there was a knock at the door. Without thinking much about it, I pulled it open, but it wasn’t Ellie or Dean. I groaned as Bela sauntered inside. "Hey, Sam."
"Bela, I didn't think there's a chance in hell you'd show up,” I said honestly as she came to a stop in the middle of the room, her hands stuffed in the pockets of her knee-length jacket. Her legs were bare despite the cold weather outside.
"Well, I'm full of surprises,” she said. She sounded...different. “Though, truthfully...you wanna know why I'm really here?"
She took a step toward me as I took one back, almost reluctantly. She brought her hands down to the straps of her jacket tied around her waist. I swallowed thickly, "Okay."
"Because of you,” she said as she undid the knot and let the jacket fall off her shoulders, nothing but a black, silky, lacy, slip dress beneath it.
I desperately tried to keep my eyes on hers. "Uh...what are you doing?"
"I can't stop thinking about you,” she whispered as she brought her hand up to my cheek.
"What-" my questions were instantly silenced as she leaned forward and kissed me, the kiss deepening every second before I reluctantly pulled away. "Are you sure?"
Bela smiled up at me as she kissed me again. I brought my hands up to her arms as I turned us backwards, walking back until my legs hit the end of the bed and we fell together. Bela’s lips never left mine even as I rolled her over onto her back, kissing down her jaw to her chest and then all the way down her body.
"Sam,” she moaned, gripping my hair in a tight fist. “Sam. Sam!"
"Sam! Wake up!” A harsh voice rang through the room as my eyelids snapped open. The room was sideways from where I was leaning on my arm, drool making a steady stream down my chin and onto my wrist. My smile faded as I slowly sat up, wiping the spit from my face.
"Dude, you were out. And making some serious happy noises,” Dean said from behind me. I glanced over my shoulder where Dean was sitting in the motel arm chair and Ellie was sprawled out on the couch, the two of them marking up numerous sheets of paper.
"Who were you dreaming about?" Ellie asked, smirking.
"What? No one. Nothing,” I dismissed quickly, turning away from them.
"C'mon, you can tell us,” Dean prodded. “Angelina Jolie?"
"No."
There was a beat of silence before Ellie spoke, "Brad Pitt?"
"No. No! Guys, it doesn't matter,” I dismissed, wanting to change the subject altogether.
"Whatever,” Dean said, shrugging it off. "I called Bela."
I paused, slowly turning back toward him, trying to seem nonchalant but it just came out awkwardly. "Bela? Yeah? She- what'd she...you know, say? She...gonna...help us?"
"Shockingly, no, which puts us back to square one. I've been trying to decipher the doctor's notes. Unfortunately, he has worse handwriting than you do."
"You gonna come help with this stuff?" Ellie asked, chewing on the end of her pen, not looking up.
I shifted in my seat, hesitating, my heart still hammering behind my rib cage. "Yeah, yeah. Just give me a sec."
A series of knocks came from the motel’s door, the three of us looking up at it. Dean pulled his legs down from the coffee table in front of him, peering into the peephole before rolling his eyes at us and opening the door. "Bela. As I live and breathe."
I held my breath as Bela came inside, dressed in the same black raincoat she’d had on in my dream. I immediately became even more flustered. Ellie shot her a forced smile from across the room.
"You called me. Remember?" Bela reminded Dean as he shut the door behind her.
"I remember you turning me down."
"Well, I'm just full of surprises,” she smirked.
"Hey, Bela,” I breathed out, trying not to focus too hard on my dream and getting it mixed with reality. I gave her a quick wave before averting my eyes again.
Bela furrowed her eyebrows at me as she opened her purse, pulling out a large jar and passing it to Ellie who was leaning against the small table I was sat at. "I brought you your African Dream Root. Nasty stuff, and not easy to come by."
Ellie turned it over in her hands. "Why the sudden change of heart?"
"What? I can't do you a little favor every now and again?" Bela reached for the knot at the front of her jacket, undoing the belt as she slowly let the jacket slide from her shoulders. I held my breath, but instead of the small black slip before, now it was a dark blue long sleeve and pencil skirt. I let out somewhat a sigh of relief.
"No. You can't,” Dean retorted. "Come on, I wanna know what the strings are before you attach 'em."
"You said this was for Bobby Singer, right? Well, I'm doing it for him. Not you."
Dean raised his eyebrows at this, "Bobby? Why?"
Bela hesitated before speaking, "He saved my life once. In Flagstaff. I screwed up and he saved me, okay? You satisfied?"
Dean grinned, “Maybe."
Bela rolled her eyes to the ceiling but pushed his prodding away and beamed, "So when do we go on this little magical mystery tour?"
“Oh, that’s cute,” Ellie said. Dean took the jar from her hands. Bela gave her a puzzled look before looking to Dean.
“Dean—”
"Oh, you're not going anywhere. I don't trust you enough to let you in my car, much less Bobby's head,” he said as he made his way to the closet, opened the safe where the Colt was safely tucked inside and set the jar of African Dream Root beside it. He snapped the safe shut and spun the dial. “No offense."
"None taken,” Bela said, agitated. “It's 2AM. Where am I supposed to go?"
"Get a room. They got the Magic Fingers, a little Casa Erotica on pay-per-view. You'll love it." Bela was starting to visibly become angry when she realized we’d used her just like all the times she’s used us. She snatched her coat from the chair, huffing as she yanked the door open.
"Nice to see—” I started, standing just as the door slammed shut behind her. “...see you...Bela." Dean and Ellie glanced sideways at me, confused.

Ellie’s POV
Dean and I sat at the end of each of the motel beds as Sam brought the glasses of the dream root mixture. It looked less than appetizing: a light brown and green liquid with white foam bubbling on top. I didn’t dare ask him what was floating around in it. I hesitantly took it from his hands, staring down into it as he sat beside me.
"Should we dim the lights and synch up Wizard of Oz to Dark Side of the Moon?" Dean grinned. Sam and I furrowed our eyebrows.
"Why?" Sam questioned.
A beat passed between them as Dean narrowed his eyes, “What did you do during college?"
Sam scoffed. Dean then began to bring the cup to his lips when Sam suddenly stopped him, "Wait, wait, wait. Can't forget this. Here."
Pulling a small manila envelope from his shirt pocket, he plucked out three very small, fine strands. He placed one piece into my open palm and then Dean’s. I examined it, wrinkling my nose, "What the hell is that?"
"Bobby's hair." I glanced at him, "We have to drink Bobby's hair?"
"That's how you control whose dream you're entering. You gotta...drink some of their uh...some of their body."
Dean looked down at his palm, "Well, guess the hair of the dog is better than other parts of the body."
I hesitantly agreed as I dropped the hair into the unknown mixture. I sighed, "Bottoms up."
We chugged the drinks as quickly as we could, trying not to process the rancidness of it. I winced, forcing myself to finish it completely. I pulled the glass away, swallowing the last of it.
A moment passed before Sam spoke up, "Feel anything?"
I wiped my mouth with the back of my sleeve. "No. You feel anything?"
"No,” Dean said, stumped. He looked into his empty cup. “Maybe we got some bad schwag."
The sound of rain hitting the window filled the room. I looked toward the drawn curtains. "When did it start raining?"
Dean stood from the bed, pulling the curtains apart. "When did it start raining upside down?"
Sure enough, the rain was climbing upward against the glass. Sam and I stood from the bed, turning when we realized we were no longer in the motel but a dark, crowded living room.
“Holy shit,” I whispered. “I think we did it.”
"Okay, I don't know what's weirder – the fact that we're in Bobby's head...or that he's dreaming of Better Homes and Gardens,” Dean said.
"Wait. Wait a second,” Sam said, narrowing his eyes at our surroundings. “Imagine the place without the paint job. More cluttered, dusty, books all over the place." We began to meander around the living room. Now that I was truly looking at it, it did feel familiar. The wallpaper, the couch, the pictures framed on the walls. Suddenly it hit me: “It's Bobby's house."
"Yeah," Sam chuckled. There was just one thing missing.
"Bobby?!" Dean called out, his voice reverberating off the walls.
"Bobby?" Sam called up the stairs, but nothing.
I continued walking throughout the living room when my eyes settled on the front door. "Hey, I'm gonna go look outside."
"No, no, no, stay close," Dean protested.
"I'll be fine. Just, look around in here," I protested. Dean still looked unsure. "Look, we gotta find him."
Dean still didn't seem like he loved the plan. "Don't do anything stupid."
I nodded once before pulling the back door open, stepping out onto the porch, instantly stopping in my tracks. It was daylight, when before the house was swimming in darkness. But that wasn't the weirdest part. The lawn was a bright green, trimmed closely to the sidewalk that led to the house, lined with pink, yellow and red tulips. I furrowed my eyebrows at the scene. For as long as we'd known him, Bobby's house never looked like this.
The sound of the door slamming shut behind me made me jump. I quickly turned, trying the doorknob that wouldn't budge. I pounded my closed fist against the wood. "Sam! Dean!"
I turned toward the windows when neither of them heard me. Inside, I could see Sam still investigating the living room, his back turned to me. The house was still dark inside, even though the curtains were drawn. I slapped my hand against the window. “Sam!”
When he still hadn't heard me, I huffed, descending the porch stairs. I knew I'd have to find another way back inside.

Sam's POV
I pulled open the double doors that none of us had checked since we got here. I had a feeling I knew what was behind them, even though they'd since been taken out for as long as I've known Bobby. The doors led me into the kitchen, but it looked much different than I was used to. Light blue walls and pristine, sparkling white counter tops, placemats on a small, round dining room table. A damn cat clock was nailed to the wall.
"Bobby?"
As Dean and I walked deeper into the kitchen, I whipped around toward the door at the end of the hall. A quiet, murmuring voice coming from inside. I began to walk toward it when a familiar voice called us back. “Who's out there?"
Dean looked to the pantry, to me, and then back to the door. “Bobby, you in there?”
“Dean?”
“Yeah. It's me. Open up." The pantry door opened, Bobby, looking panicked, peered around the corner of the fridge.
“How in the hell did you find me?”
“We got our hands on some of that Dream Root stuff.”
Bobby's eyebrows furrowed, still looking for an unseen threat around the corner. “Dream Root? What?”
“Dr. Gregg, the experiments?” I said, trying to jog his memory.
“What the hell are you talking about?" Suddenly, the door across the hall began to shake violently as someone on the other side was banging on it. The lights above us started flickering. Bobby's eyes widened as he grabbed us, turning back toward the pantry. "Hurry.”
Dean stopped in place, “Whoa, whoa, whoa, whoa, whoa. What's going on?”
“She's coming," he said, sounding terrified.
“You do know this is a dream, don't you?” I tried to reason, but it was no use.
“What are you, crazy!?”
“It's a dream, Bobby! None of this is real!” I shouted at him over the shaking doorframe when suddenly the door flew off its hinges. The pantry door behind us slamming shut. We were cornered.
“Does that look made-up?” He asked, pointing past us. I followed his terrified gaze as a woman, dressed in all white came through the doorway. Blood soaked her dress, open and leaking stab wounds covered her chest.
“Bobby, who is that?” Dean asked.
Bobby hesitated as the woman came closer. “She's...she's my wife.”
My heart sank. I always knew Bobby had been married before, but he refused to ever talk about what'd happened to her. She drew closer. “Why Bobby? Why did you do this to me?”
“I'd rather died myself than hurt you," Bobby said, pain laced throughout his voice. Mine and Dean's eyes bounced between the two of them.
“But you did hurt me. You shoved that knife into me. Again and again. You watched me bleed. Watched me die.”
Dean grabbed Bobby's jacket in an another attempt to shake something loose, “Bobby, she's not real!”
Bobby didn't take his eyes off what seemed to be a spirit. “You were possessed, baby. You were rabid. And I didn't know what I know now. I didn't know how to save you.”
“You're lying. You wanted me dead!" She shouted. "If you'd loved me, you would've found a way!”
“I'm sorry," Bobby pleaded before she ran at us at full speed. I gripped Bobby by his arm, yanking him back into the living room and slamming the sliding doors shut before she could make it through.

Ellie’s POV
I followed the path of flowers around the house that lead to the back where there was a fenced-in garden, no sign of the junkyard that has always surrounded Bobby's house, since we've known him at least. I had just ducked under a clothesline hung with white sheets when I heard quiet footsteps behind me. I whipped around, but not quick enough to react to the bat being swung right at my chest. I fell to the ground, holding my shoulder where I'd been hit. I narrowed my eyes at the man above me. "Who are you?”
“Who are you? You don't belong here.”
“You're one to talk. You're in my friend's head.”
“You got a poor choice in friends. This is self-defense. He came after me. He wanted to hurt me!"
"That may be because you're a killer."I could tell now that this guy was my age, maybe even younger.
“You should be nicer to me. In here...you're just an insect. I'm a god.”

Sam's POV
Dean and I threw ourselves up against the double doors. Bobby continued to look stunned as he stood helpless in the middle of the living room. The doors behind Dean and I shook as we gripped the doorframe, trying to keep her at bay. “I'm telling you, all of it. Your house, your wife, it's a nightmare!”
“I killed her," Bobby mumbled, not having even heard what Dean was trying to tell him. I looked to my left, noticing a wire dangling from a table lamp. I yanked it from the wall, pulling it free from the lamp.
“Bobby, this is your dream. And you can wake up," Dean said as I began to tied the wire around the double door's round knobs. "I mean, hell, you can do anything.”
The screaming continued on the other side of the door, the wood shaking against the pounding of her fists. I wasn't sure how much longer they'd hold.
“Just leave me alone. Let her kill me already.”
Dean had finally had enough, grabbing Bobby by the shoulders as he pulled him away from the doors. “Look at me. You gotta snap out of this now! You're not gonna die. I'm not gonna let you die! You're like a father to me." Dean was gripping the front of Bobby's jacket in his fists, pleading. His eyes were wide, searching Bobby's face. "You gotta believe me, please.”
Bobby hesitated, unsure of what to believe. “I'm dreaming?”
“Yes! Now take control of it.”
Bobby watched Dean for a moment before slowing his breathing, closing his eyes. It only took a second before the screaming and pounding stopped. I looked at the double doors. Slowly, I untied the wire and slid the doors apart. Sunshine shown in through the kitchen windows, no woman in sight.
“I don't believe it," Bobby muttered.
“Believe it," I said, turning back to him. "Now would you please wake up?"
In an instant, the three of us shot up in bed, back in the motel room.

Ellie’s POV
We'd gotten the call almost immediately that Bobby was awake. Dean and I stayed behind in the hospital room as Sam went to go check on Jeremy, who Dean was able to decipher after I told them what I saw.
We were flipping through Dr. Gregg's case files when Dean finally spoke up, breaking the silence, “Hey, Bobby. That stuff with your wife...that actually happen?”
“Everybody got into hunting somehow," Bobby said. It was horrible hearing about Bobby's dream, about his wife. I realized now why he never talked about her. Part of me wished it was just a horrible nightmare and not his past catching up with him.
“I'm sorry," Dean said.
“Don't be sorry. If it weren't for you, I'd still be lost in there. Or dead. Thank you."
A beat of silence passed as him and Dean looked to each other before Sam came in through the open door. "So, stoner boy wasn't in his dorm. My guess is he's long gone by now.”
“He ain't much of a stoner," Bobby said, reading from Dr. Gregg's file on him. "His name's Jeremy Frost. Full-on genius. Hundred-and-sixty IQ. Which is sayin' something, considering his dad took a baseball bat to his head. Here's Father of the Year.” He handed Sam a printed copy of Henry Frost's driver's license. “He died before Jeremy was ten.”
“Looks like a real sweetheart," I said as Sam passed the picture to me. He reminded me a lot of the guys dad used to be friends with from the military: rugged, usually drunk.
“Injury gave him Charcot-Wilbrand," Bobby said. "He hasn't dreamt since.”
“Til he started dosing the dream drug," Dean said. “How'd he know how to dig up your worst nightmare and throw it at you?”
“Hey, he was rooting around in my skull. God knows what he saw in there.”
“How'd he get in there in the first place?" I asked. "Isn't he supposed to have some of your hair, your DNA, or something?”
Bobby nodded, “Yeah. Before I knew it was him, he offered me a beer. I drank it. Dumbest fuckin' thing.”
“Oh, I don't know," Dean chuckled nervously. "It wasn't that dumb.”
I turned to him, sensing his embarrassment, “Dean, you didn't.”
“...I was thirsty," he admitted.
Sam scoffed, “That's great. Now he can come after either one of you.”
“Well, now we just have to find him first.”
“We better work fast...and coffee up," Bobby said. "Because the one thing we cannot do is fall asleep.”

2 Days Later.
Sam and I closely watched Dean whose been on edge all day. His hands were gripping the wheel so tightly that his knuckles were white. “I mean, this Jeremy guy's not a fuckin' ghost. Where the hell could he be?”
Sam glanced at me before looking back at Dean. “Dean, you sure you don't want me to drive? You seem a little...caffeinated.”
“Well, thanks for the news flash, Edison!” Dean shouted. I eyed the speedometer when Dean's phone rang. He fumbled with it as he pulled it from his pocket, frustration and caffeine making him clumsy. He snapped it open, “Tell me you got something!”
“Strip club was a bust, huh?” Bobby said on the other end.
“Yeah," I sighed, crossing it off our list. “That was our last lead.”
“What the hell, Bobby!” Dean shouted into the phone.
“Don't yell at me, boy. I'm working my ass off here!”
Dean tried to lower his tone, running a hand down his face. “Sorry, I'm sorry. I'm just...I'm- I'm tired. What's Bela got?”
“What do you got, Bela?" Bobby asked. We could hear her in the background, but not enough to make out what she was saying. "She's got nothing.”
“Great! Well, I'm just gonna go blow my brains out now!” Dean slammed the phone shut and threw it to the seat between him and Sam. He closed his fist, bring it up to his mouth when suddenly, he veered the car onto a hidden road. “Alright, that's it. I'm done." He threw the car into park and cut the engine, settling into the seat.
“What are you doing?” I asked.
“Taking myself a long-overdue nap.”
Sam's eyes widened, “What?! Dean, Jeremy can come after you.”
“That's the idea.”
“Excuse me?”
“Come on man, we can't find him, so let him come to me!"
“On his own turf? Where he's basically a god?”
“I can handle it," Dean huffed out, his eyes already closed and his arms crossed over his chest.
“Not alone, you can't," Sam said before quickly plucking a strand of hair from Dean's head. I followed suit. I wasn't gonna leave them to clean up this mess.
“Ow! What are you doing?” He yelped, grabbing at the back of his head.
“We're coming in with you," I said.
“No, you're not.”
"Why not? At least then it'll be three against one.”
Dean hesitated, looking to Sam and I, “'Cause I don't want you digging around in my head.”
“Too bad," Sam said already beginning to make the Dream Root mixture.
- - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - -
I sat up first, blinking away sleep. We were still in the car. I nudged Sam and Dean who sat upright, looking around the small enclosed dirt road we fell asleep parked on. "What are we still doing here?”
“I have no idea," Dean said.
A sound came just outside the car. Sam looked to us, “There's someone out there.”
We quietly filed out of the car, listening for more signs of what we assumed would be Jeremy. Then, I heard the noise again, soft and melodic. It was...music?
Stars shining bright above you, night breezes seem to whisper 'I love you'.
“Hey," a voice said soothingly. The three of us turned. A woman, bathed in golden light despite the darkness consuming us, with dark hair and a yellow dress perched upon a plaid blanket. A picnic basket and bottle of wine were next to her. Dean froze in place at the sight of her. She smiled sweetly. I recognized her. Lisa. "You gonna sit down?”
Sam and I stood back. Dean gulped. Lisa patted the blanket and picked up the bottle of wine, refiling her glass. “Come on. We only have an hour before we have to pick Ben up from baseball.”
Say nighty-night and kiss me. Just hold me tight and tell me you'll miss me.
“I've never had this dream before," Dean muttered, looking at us over his shoulder. Sam and I continued to watch Dean, knowing he was bluffing. “Stop looking at me like that.”
“Dean," Lisa said. Dean looked longingly at her. "I love you.”
Dream a little dream of me.
Suddenly, the music cut out and the image of Lisa flickered until she was no longer in front of us.
“Where'd she go?” Dean breathed out.
We looked around the dense forest when Sam motioned toward the other side of the tree line. “Jeremy.”
Sam led the way, Dean and I following close behind. I kept my eyes trained on Sam's brown jacket, trying not to lose him as we dodged in and out of the trees. It wasn't until I'd happened to glance behind me when I realized Dean was nowhere to be found. I stopped, looking every which way, my chest quickly rising and falling. "Dean!?"

Dean’s POV
One second, I'm trailing behind Ellie in the pursuit of Jeremy through the thick forest and the next second, I'm not in the forest at all. I slide to a stop before I run straight into the wall ahead of me, painted with green oak trees. I slowly turned around, knowing that this was a dream. Knowing that anything was possible.
I was in a long hallway, doors lining the walls on either side of me. I glanced at each one, but it wasn't until I'd reached the end when the door ahead of me creaked open on its own, seemingly inviting me in. I stepped inside, quickly realizing I was back where this all started: Bobby's motel room. A faint clicking noise came from the otherwise silent, dark room. It was a man, sitting at the desk. His back was facing me, clicking the desk lamp on...off...on...off.
“Jeremy?” I called out to him. The clicking stopped, leaving the desk light on. In the light, I could tell it wasn't Jeremy at all. The figure looked halfway over its shoulder before standing, confirming what I feared deep in my stomach.
“Hey, Dean," it said. It was wearing my clothes, had my voice, in my skin.
“Well, aren't you a handsome son of a gun.”
“We need to talk.”
I nodded as we began circling each other around the small room. “I get it. I get it. I'm my own worst nightmare, is that it? Kind of like the Superman III junkyard scene? A little mano y mano with myself?”
“Joke all you want, smart-ass," he said. It was unsettling to say the least. We stopped on opposite sides of the room. "But you can't lie to me. I know the truth. I know how dead you are inside...how worthless you feel. I know how you look into a mirror...and hate what you see.”
I ground my teeth, “Sorry, pal. It's not gonna work. You're not real.”
“Sure I am. I'm you.”
“I don't think so. 'Cause see, this is my siesta. Not yours. All I gotta do is snap my fingers and you go bye-bye," I said, ready to get this shit over with, knowing that the longer I stayed inside this part of my dreams, the longer Sam and Ellie would be alone to hunt down Jeremy. I snapped my fingers, expecting him to disappear. However, he only continued to stare back, solid as a rock. I snapped again and again before I realized it was no use. My hand fell to my side.
He smirked, as if he knew I'd try that. “I'm not going anywhere, and neither are you.” The door behind him slammed shut, the deadbolt locking into place. My heart rate began to pick up speed. He lifted a shotgun -- my shotgun -- that seemed to have materialized out of thin air. “Like I said...we need to talk.”

Ellie's POV
Simultaneously, Sam and I shot up in our seats in the Impala, yet Dean stayed asleep. Sam grabbed him at the shoulder, trying to shake him awake, “Dean. Hey. Wake up.”
Instead, it was Jeremy in the front seat. Quicker than either of us could react, Jeremy used the end of his baseball bat to smash into Sam's shoulder so hard I heard an audible pop. He groaned in agony, opening the passenger side door as he rolled from the car. I quickly grabbed Jeremy in a headlock from behind, but he was faster. He grabbed me by my shoulders, yanking me over the front bench seat. My back landed hard against the dash board, making me suck in a painful breath of air. He stood from the car, pulling me out by my arms and dropping me to the forest floor. I scrambled to my feet, rounding the car to meet Sam but the unmistakable sound of the bat slicing through the air filled my ears before it came crashing down on the middle of my back. I crumpled to the ground next to Sam, the two of us shuffling away as quickly as we could from Jeremy who loomed over us.
“Boy, you just don't know when to leave well enough alone, do you?” He said, swinging the bat in circles.
“You're a psycho," Sam spit at him as we maneuvered backward on the forest floor.
Jeremy bared his teeth. “You're wrong.”
“Yeah? Tell that to Dr. Gregg.”
He scoffed, “The doc? No, no. The doc's the one that got me hooked on this stuff and then he took it away. But I needed it, and he wouldn't let me have it.”
“So you killed him?” I asked. Sam and I continued to kick at the wet grass beneath us to put as much distance between us and him but he continued to loom over us.
“I can dream again. Do you know what that's like, not to be able to dream? You never rest, not really. It's like being awake for fifteen years.”
“And let me guess," Sam said, holding his shoulder. "That makes you go crazy?”
“I just wanna be left alone. I just wanna dream.”
“Sorry," I said. "Can't do that.”
Jeremy paused, looking between Sam and I before suddenly we were forced flat onto the ground. I lifted my head, looking down at mine and Sam's hands that were tied with ropes and secured with large stakes into the ground. Our feet were bound at the ankles. I tried pulling, but the knots only seemed to tighten, digging into my skin.
Jeremy stepped forward, looking down at the bat in his hand. No doubt the same bat that put him in this situation in the first place. “I'm getting better and better at this. Stronger and stronger all the time." I looked to Sam, praying he had an answer to get us out of here. "But you two, your brother? You're not waking up. Not this time. I'm not gonna let you.”

Dean’s POV
I didn't take my eyes off this other version of me. There was something off about him. We were circling each other again, like predators. “I mean, you're going to Hell and you won't lift a finger to stop it. Talk about low self-esteem. Then again, I guess it's not much of a life worth saving, now is it?”
“Wake up, Dean. Come on, wake up," I muttered to myself, unsure of where this was going. I knew that it wouldn't only be me that would die if I couldn't get back into my own body, but Sam and Ellie, too.
“I mean, after all, you've got nothing outside of Ellie and Sam," he went on, stopping in front of the desk. "You are nothing. You're as mindless and obedient as an attack dog.”
“Now that's not true," I said, trying to dismiss his words but knew I couldn't. This wasn't some monster trying to get into my head. This is my head.
“No? What are the things that you want? What are the things that you dream? I mean, your car? That's dad’s. Your favorite leather jacket? Dad's. Your music? Dad's. Do you even have an original thought?" He spat. I shook my head, trying to drown his words out. "No. No, all there is is, ‘watch out for Sammy and El. Look out for your siblings, boy!’ You can still hear your dad’s voice in your head, can't you?" He brought the barrel of the shotgun up to his temple, tapping it lightly. "Clear as a bell.”
“Just shut up," I warned, feeling a burning in my chest at his words because I knew, better than anyone, that they were true.
“I mean, think about it...all he ever did was train you, boss you around." He took a step closer. "But Sam and Ellie...them he doted on. Them, he loved.”
“I mean it. I'm getting angry," I warned again, but he went on.
“Dad knew who you really were. A good soldier and nothing else. Daddy's blunt little instrument. Your own father didn't care whether you lived or died. Why should you!?”
I reached my boiling point, shoving him so hard against his chest that he flew across the room and smacked the wall behind him. “Son of a bitch! My father was an obsessed bastard!”
He tried to get up but I was faster, kicking him square in the chest, sending him flying back against the stone. I grabbed the shotgun, shoving it against his chest and shoulders, keeping him pinned to the wall. “All that crap he dumped on me, about protecting Sam and Ellie, that was his shit! He's the one who couldn't protect his family!”
I swung the shotgun back, bringing it three times across his face and pinned him again. “He's the one who let mom die. Who wasn't there for Sam and Ellie! I always was! He wasn't there! I didn't deserve what he put on me. And I don't deserve to go to Hell!"
For one last time I pulled the shotgun away and pumped four rounds into his chest, blood spraying.
My chest rose and fell quickly as I stepped toward my own lifeless body, slumped against the wall of the motel. Suddenly, the figure's eyes snapped open, clicking to pools of black. I took a quick step back, my eyes wide. “You can't escape me, Dean. You're gonna die. And this? This is what you're gonna become!”

Ellie’s POV
"Please, stop!" I begged over and over as Jeremy continued to bring the bat down over Sam's beaten body. He groaned in pain, trying to dodge the blows but it was no use. "Stop!"
Jeremy looked to me, his chest heaving as he brought the bat down, but this time swinging it at my sides. Air escaped my lungs as the blows continued to rain down.
"Jeremy, stop!" Sam pleaded, but it was like Jeremy was in a trance, or he didn't care, or maybe both.
He finally took a step back and I could finally catch my breath. The faint taste of blood at the back of my throat. He pointed his bat down at me, just inches from my face. “You can't stop me. There's nothing I can't do in here.”
“Because of the Dream Root," I gasped out. I definitely had a few broken ribs. "Well, you're forgetting something.”
Jeremy shifted, planting his feet on the ground on either side of my hips. He squared his own as he raised the bat over his shoulder once again, working up what looked like would be a lethal blow right to my head. My blood ran cold. “What's that?”
I smiled, feeling blood coating my teeth now. “I took the Dream Root, too.”
A booming voice sounded on the other side of the forest clearing. “Jeremy! Jeremy!”
Jeremy whipped around at the sound of the man's voice, panic replacing the blood-thirsty look in his eyes. “No. No...dad?”
“You answer me when I'm talking to you, boy," Henry Frost stepped closer to his son who took two steps back for each one his father ascended upon him.
With his guard down, the ropes vanished. Sam was on his feet in an instant, using Jeremy's own bat to collide into his face. I hurried to my feet, watching as Sam swung one last time, bringing the bat down onto Jeremy's skull.
I flew upright in my seat in the car, Sam and Dean following suit. I gripped my chest to steady my racing heart.

We followed Bobby back into the motel room where Dean was just getting off the phone, turning to us, “Hey, you guys seen Bela? She's not in her room. She's not answering her phone.”
“She must've taken off or something," Bobby suggested.
“Just like that? It's a little weird," Sam said. “Yeah well, if you ask me what's weird is why she helped us in the first place," Bobby said.
I looked at him, confused, “I thought you saved her life.”
“What the hell are you talking about?”
“The thing in Flagstaff.”
Bobby raised his eyebrows, searching his memory. “That thing in Flagstaff was an amulet. I gave her a good deal, that's all.” Sam, Dean and I looked to each other. “You three better check your pockets.” Immediately, we patted the pockets of our coats and jeans. Bobby sighed. “Not literally.”
Suddenly, Dean widened his eyes as he turned directly toward the safe in the closet. “No, no, no, no.”
I watched in shock as he pulled the safe door open. Where once the Colt had been safely tucked inside, it was now gone. I clenched my jaw. “The Colt. Bela stole the Colt.”
“Damn it, kids!” Bobby shouted, shaking his head.
“Pack your shit," Dean said, grabbing the keys for the car. “We're gonna go hunt the bitch down.”
- - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - -
Dean's POV
I glanced sideways at Sam as we stood at the trunk of Baby, zipping our duffles. “Hey, Sam. I was wondering. When you were in my head, what did you see?”
Sam shook his head, “Just Jeremy. He kept us separated from you. Easier to beat our brains out that way, I guess. What about you? You never said.”
I bit my tongue, thankful that was all he'd seen. “Nothing. I was looking for you two the whole time.”
I slammed the trunk shut, the two of us rounding the car and slid into the front seat. I turned the engine over, glancing in the rearview mirror to where Ellie was coming out of the motel, helping Bobby carry his things to his truck. My throat constricted. Although I'd hardly slept the last three days, I laid awake all last night, unable to get the image of me with black eyes out of my head. “Sam.”
“Yeah?”
I tossed around everything in my head that I wanted to say, “I've been doing some thinking, and...well, the thing is..." I paused, swallowing past the lump in my throat. "I don't wanna die. I don't wanna go to Hell.”
Sam was quiet for a minute before he nodded. I couldn't meet his gaze. “Alright. Yeah. We'll find a way to save you.”
I tried my best at a half-hearted smile but it came out as more of a grimace. I knew the chances were slim to none. “Okay, good.”
“You can't escape me, Dean.” The words rolled through my head again. I gripped the wheel. “You're gonna die.” I cranked the music louder in an attempt to drown out my own voice but it was no use. “And this? This is what you're gonna become!”

Note
Have you made a list or notes on whumpy Hallmark and if so where?🥺
You know what, I haven't yet! Let me do that for ya now. And if anyone wants to add their favs please do so!
A Gift To Remember: Darcy (Ali Liebert) hits Aiden (Peter Porte) while riding her bike and he gets knocked out and loses his memory. It’s pretty good.
Love on the Sidelines : Laurel (Emily Kinney) is a struggling fashion designer who finds herself with a job as a personal assistant for Danny (John Reardon), a quarterback sidelined with an broken ankle. Danny is on crutches for most of the movie and is recovery from his injury.
Spirit of Christmas: A young lawyer (Jen Lilley) finds romance with a spirit (Thomas Beaudoin) that takes the form of a human 12 days before Christmas. He was murdered and there are flashbacks to him being attacked and killed.
Christmas Homecoming: Stars Michael Shanks (Daniel Jackson from SG1!!) as an Army Captain recovering from an injury in battle. He's got a broken leg and suffers from survivors guilt and ptsd.
Hailey Dean Mysteries: Deadly Estate for some good poisoning whump of a medical examiner. You want unconscious? medically induced coma? respirator? bedside vigils? worry? waking up with a twitching hand? walking down the hospital floor holding onto their iv pole? Then this is the movie for you!
Love Blossoms: one small part when the main guy, Declan, gets sick with a cold during the movie. It’s kind of cute but the rest of the movie's got nothing.
Second Chances: "A badly injured leg forces fireman Jeff, who lost his father in a fire as a young boy, to rent a ground floor room during his recovery. Thus he moves in with Jenny, a 911 emergency call center operator, and her two young children, Luke and Elsie, who soon dote on him as an ideal substitute father and try matching him with their mother."
My Gal Sunday: Henry (Cameron Mattheson) gets shot in the beginning of the movie.
Signed Sealed Delivered Lost Without You: Oliver goes on a hike with his father. His dad trips and gets a seemingly innocuous injury on his leg but the two of them get lost in the woods and the injury turns out to be life threatening.
A Godwink Christmas Miracle of Love: Eric (Alberto Frezza) is run over by a plow near the end of the film. There's lots of surgery, worry, hospital stuff.
Retreat to Paradise: "Jordan is recovering from a shoulder injury and his grumpiness tempts Ellie, his carer, to leave him to his misery. But will romance finally blossom?"
The Christmas Waltz: Roman (Will Kemp) hits his head due to slipping on an icy sidewalk and has to go to hospital
Taking a Shot at Love: "Sparks fly between a ballet instructor and a professional hockey player as she tries to help him recover from the same injury that sidelined her dancing career." It's not got a lot of whump but it is about a hockey player in rehab.
Martha's Vineyard Mysteries series: The whole series. Jesse Metcalfe's character Jeff was shot on a previous case and the bullet is still in lodged in his back and it causes him pain a lot AND he continually has nightmares about the incident. It's great.
Mystery 101: Killer Timing: Travis (Kristopher Polaha) gets blown up and even though the aftermath doesn't last long its still wonderful. He gets knocked out, there's an ambulance and hospital scene (kinda), worried family members.
Never Kiss a Man in a Christmas Sweater: Maggie O'Donnell (Ashley Williams) accidentally breaks Lucas Cavelli (Niall Matter)'s arm while carrying a Christmas Tree and offers him a room to stay in when he can't find a hotel room cause she feels guilty.
A Timeless Christmas: Charles Whitley (Ryan Paevey) passes out in 1903 and wakes up in 2020.
Aurora Teagarden A Bundle of Trouble: Martin Bartell (Yannick Bisson) gets shot in the shoulder
Christmas on the Range: Clint McCree (Nicholas Gonzalez) is attacked and beaten up pretty badly.
Mix Up in the Mediterranean: Josh (Jeremy Jordan)'s twin brother Julian gets hurt and can’t do a cooking competition so Josh takes over.
The Christmas Cure: Mitch (Steve Byers) falls off ladder and gets a concussion
Love's Christmas Journey: Sheriff Aaron Davis (Greg Vaughan) gets shot in the leg while chasing a robber. His injury is bad and gets infected. He gets a fever and is rescued by an old man who cares for him. The wound needs cauterizing and he suffers fever, chills, and more.
Hearts in the Game: Diego Vasquez (Marco Grazinni) is a hot shot baseball pitcher who has a panic attack during a game which costs the team the game. Turns out it was triggered by the anniversary of his moms death and he has another panic attack later in the movie as well.
Fourth Down in Love is about an athlete who is sidelined by an injury. Broken ribs I think?
Rip in Time: Another fun time travel movie. Rip (Niall Mater) gets knocked out at least once.
Three Wise Men and a Baby: Paul Campbell's character has social anxiety and has a sort of panic attack in the park at the beginning of the movie.
Jolly Good Christmas: Will Kemp's character falls into a frozen river and he comes out shaking and shivering and she gets him a blanket and tea and he needs a hot shower.
That's all I've got for right now. The bolded ones have the best whump in my opinion so definitely check those out first :) Love's Christmas Journey and the Martha's Vineyard Mysteries are A+ whump hallmark movies. Do those first ;)

*spins wheel* Penelope Young and... *spins wheel* uh, Stephanie Brown. Huh, this'll be interesting.
That is interesting!
Stephanie wasn’t sure how she felt about Penelope Young.
Sure, she was doing a lot of good work trying to stop Strange, and sure, everyone deserved a chance to be better, but this was still the woman who had created the TITAN drug. Hell, this was a woman who still fell in love with Edward Nigma. There kind of had to be an upper cap on just how good a woman like that could be, right?
Ok, maybe that was a little unfair, but still.
Everything Oracle had told her about Dr. Young suggested that she was a cold, calculating professional. Someone who was always put-together, always in control. Someone who was as close to an opposite to Stephanie Brown as one could imagine. The woman Stephanie had dealt with in the hospital however? It felt like Babs must have been talking about another Dr. Young.
Dr. Young was a constant presence in Edward’s room. She was always sitting in a chair next to his bed, her eyes never leaving the comatose man. She never spoke. Stephanie wasn’t sure she slept. The only time she would seem to come to life was when Stephanie would bring Ellen into the room. Dr. Young would try to smile, ask Ellen about how her day at school was, but it never sounded convincing to Stephanie. She doubted Ellie was convinced either, by the way the younger girl would shoot concerned looks at her.
Today was no different. Two weeks since Edward’s coma, since Dr. Young had returned from Arkham City, and there was no change. Edward was still in a coma, and Dr. Young was like a ghost haunting the room. Ellen had walked out to use the bathroom, leaving Stephanie with the doctor.
Dr. Young's face fell as soon as the door shut, her eyes dropping down to the still form in the bed. She gently placed a hand on Edward's face, brushing his now long bangs out of his face. It was an intimate moment that Stephanie felt awkward seeing. She let her eyes drift to the floor, trying to give her as much privacy as possible.
"Thank you."
Stephanie blinked. Had Dr. Young just spoken to her? "Huh?"
Dr. Young was looking at her now. Her face was blank. "Ellen's told me how you've been looking after her. Thank you for that."
Stephanie rubbed her elbow. "You're welcome." Dr. Young gave her a small nod, then turned her attention back to her comatose lover. Had Edward ever told her who Batgirl really was? Stephanie doubted that. Ellie certainly didn't know, and if Edward would tell anyone, wouldn't he tell her first? The room felt too quiet. Stephanie spoke again. "She's a good kid."
"Yes," Dr. Young agreed without looking up. "She doesn't deserve-" her voice caught in her throat. "It's my fault," she managed to choke out. "I brought Edward into this."
Stephanie wasn't sure what to say. "Don't blame yourself," she said finally. "He wouldn't want that."
"Edward never cared about reforming Arkham," Dr. Young continued. "He only started opposing Strange for my sake, and he was almost killed because of it. And now Ellen's in the middle of this mess too."
"Strange had already come after him before. They were going to face off no matter what. And Ellie..." God, Ellie. "She was the one who sought him out," she said. "Edward chose to have a relationship with her." Dr. Young looked up sharply. "I'm not blaming him for anything," Stephanie said quickly. "It was just...really, really bad timing." Way to go, Steph.
Dr. Young's shoulders slumped. "What am I going to do?" she murmured. "How am I going to keep Ellen safe? Even if Harley keeps her word, Sharp won't hold back forever. And Ellen has so much anger...I'm afraid of what she'll do."
Stephanie narrowed her eyes slightly. First Selina, now Dr. Young...didn't anyone have any faith in Ellie? What exactly did they think she'd do? "I think she has a right to be angry," she said. "And even if she's angry, she's a good kid. She's not going to do anything crazy." Stephanie took a breath. "Look, I've been thinking about-"
Dr. Young's eyes hardened. "I know what you've been thinking about," she said. "Selina told me that you're considering training Ellen. The answer is no. I won't let you."
Stephanie felt her own resolve harden. "No disrespect, Dr. Young, but that's not up to you. You can't speak for Ellie."
"I can speak for her father," Dr. Young responded. "And he didn't want that. He has never wanted that. He went along with Batman's plan to infiltrate Arkham to make sure she didn't get a chance to put on a costume again! I can't pretend I understand why you put on a costume, whether it was out of some sense of obligation or just for the thrills, but you are not dragging Ellen into that lifestyle."
'Lifestyle'? Really? "She's already halfway there, and she got there long before I came into the picture," Stephanie argued. "I'm the one who found her on the streets wearing a homemade costume and hitting punks with a hammer!"
"And if I remember correctly, you took a bullet for her. She watched a man die. She almost died. Twice. Why do you want to expose her to even more trauma?"
"I don't!" Stephanie shouted. She took a quick breath to calm herself down. "Believe me, I don't. I wish she could go back to just being a normal kid, but she can't. Not as long as Strange is around. And I think deep down, you know that."
Dr. Young didn't answer. Instead, she looked down at Edward's body and reached for his limp hand. This wasn't the cold professional Babs had told Stephanie about. This was a grieving woman trying to hold on to what she had left.

can I ask for details abt this amnesia fic that once has so much promise? 👀
also fun fact I too have an amnesia fic that once held so much promise but is now functionally abandoned until further notice. hive mind moment
hello elli YES omg idk what it is apparently amnesia fics are just that fucking difficult. or smth. idk but!! yes i will share everything that is still in my brain involving this fic (under the cut tho i'm abt to infodump so hard)
this idea was originally planted by an anon who left a very cute little amnesia prompt in my inbox (anon if you're out there i'm so sorry i swearrr). i've since deviated from the og prompt which was fairly lighthearted (amnesia will sees mike hovering over him obsessively and assumes he's his bf. and mike short circuits. which was an excellent idea my brain just wouldn't accept it) and went for angst bc well. i'm like that. and basically my idea was just that will wakes up in mike's room very recently post-apocalypse (the wheeler's house has been a base in the apocalypse and mike offered his room bc of course he did), having been in a coma for a few months. the idea behind it was that vecna / the hive mind tried to possess him again, but this time will was strong enough to fight back, and though he couldn't fight *through* the possession he was at least able to kind of incapacitate himself so that he couldn't be used to hurt his friends (yay angst!!). while he was asleep the others managed to stop vecna / kill the UD, hence freeing will from possession. yay he's awake!! unfortunately, since he was in the coma for so long, the virus ate away parts of his consciousness, namely his memories.
basically i took s2 and birthdaygate and made it bigger and more dramatic and worse. yay parker!!
the way i was planning on having will's memories come back is very slowly and methodically (i.e. it takes him a while to remember stuff but once he does it pretty much sticks), mainly through him being reminded of them through sensory recognition or people sharing stuff - he also has vague feelings attached to people, and can definitely recognize when a face belongs to someone important to him (cough cough mike wheeler) but he doesn't remember names or details and this drives him INSANE.
the bylerification of this would be mike, post-apocalypse and broken up with el and having had some Very Important Realizations, frantically fumbling trying to give will love confessions and apologies when will literally doesn't remember any of their fights. so not only does mike have to apologize for everything, he also has to make will relive it first, and Then hope that will doesn't reject him. (hehe.) this sucks for him, but yada yada it all works out and they make out sloppy. the end
i abandoned this fic for a lot of reasons, many of which i no longer remember, but the main ones were a., that is a lot of backstory for a story that ultimately doesn't have much plot beyond Mike Is Stressed And Will Is Confused, and b., at the time i was kind of burnt out on writing/reading apocalypse stuff, and c., i wasn't a big fan of the concept of everyone saving the world with will still incapacitated bc i know my boy is more of a key character than that!!! (this is small and ik people could get over it for This One Fic but it Really Bothered me Ok)
that being said,,, writing all this out did remind me of how much i liked the concept and i think taking the pressure off of myself for a couple months did help, as did taking a break from apocalypsey concepts for a while. so. Maybe. and that is all i will say about that <33

Dear Sephiroth: (a letter to a fictional character, because why not) #42
My brain has felt like mashed potatoes all day today. I think it's because I'm a bit short on sleep, and also because I probably didn't drink enough water. Oh well. I'll try a little harder not to slip up with the self-care tomorrow.
Following talk therapy today (in which we made it a point to play cards - to give me a lesson in deliberately taking the time to be non-productive, which is a thing I very much struggle with), I tried my very best to actually chill today. I think I managed; I played Terraria with my lovely friend from Germany, and it was very good.
But you know? On days like this, I feel very similar to the Ancient Psychic Tandem War Elephant.
…Wow. I'm sorry. That probably just sounded like word salad to you. Okay, uh… let me see if I can try to explain…
The Ancient Psychic Tandem War Elephant (I'll call him Elly for short) was created as an extremely powerful creature of destruction to be commanded without regard for his own wishes, needs, or sentience.
…I suppose that makes him a lot like you, at least in that regard.
A righteous adventurer named Finn and his friend Jake were having a rough time, and so Finn got it in his head to wish for Elly's help. And Elly did help, but Finn didn't want a slave. I don't think Elly understood this very well because he was so used to being an extension of someone else's will instead of having his own. So Elly ends up sitting idle in Finn's treasure room, purposeless because Finn has no interest in commanding him to destroy things. Here:
youtube
Pay no attention to the coin or the fact that Finn and Jake are about to spend it. Instead pay attention to the notion that, despite the fact that being out of the money room is no fault of Elly's, he still said, "I'm sorry, master; you told me to stay inside the money room, but now I am outside. What is your punishment, master?"
…This is something I understand on a very deep level. And I have a funny feeling that you do too, don't you? I'm sorry if you know what it is. But at the same time, if you do know what it is, then I'm not sorry that I also know what it is, because then that means you're not alone, and neither am I.
In any case, the next thing that struck me was Elly's very literal, reluctantly-going-through-the-motions type of acquiescence to Finn's non-desire of a slave - as expressed with his very confused, "I continue to chill," near the end of the video.
And… I feel that in my bones, because I know Elly's not really "chilling". Elly feels confused and as though he has lost his purpose. He does not understand a world in which he is not treated like an object.
Later, Finn asks for Elly's help against a powerful opponent (Darren). Elly topples this foe easily with Finn's help, and knocks the person commanding this opponent (Maja) into a coma:
youtube
From there, Elly goes into a bit of an existential crisis:
youtube
And you know? Given my upbringing and the way that I was treated for such a long time, this kind of existential confusion is also something I understand well. When I first began to live with my husband, it was extremely difficult for me to adjust to the notion that he wanted a PERSON - not a slave, a toy, a tool, a piece of furniture, or an extension of his own will to command, to control, and to punish when I get it wrong. He actually cared about what I was thinking, feeling, wanting, and needing, and not just about what I could do for him. I was VERY unaccustomed to being treated as though my mind or my state of being mattered, and the uncertainty of what I was supposed to do or who I was supposed to be was incredibly painful and frightening at first. Elly flies off into the distance, bearing a kind of discomfort that used to be all too familiar to me.
But then Elly spent some time actually looking at the world around him, instead of focusing on blindly obeying whomever he feels he is supposed to be loyal to, and he seems to realize, if a little slowly, that he has a place in this world, even without needing to be "useful" to someone else:
youtube
How do you light a candle without a match, indeed? If a candle doesn't have a match, what purpose does it serve? This is further explained in this video, and it shows Elly making a decision to return to Maja; he decides that he is the master of his own fate, and decides to act upon his own values, and to be the match to his own candle:
youtube
This all ties back, of course, to the Independent Together video I showed you before, from Steven Universe. "What do I want to be? I'm the master of me…" as a phrase, somehow manages to be both empowering and terrifying at the exact same time.
youtube
I am learning how to be the match to my own candle; it is why I will keep saying "I continue to chill" until I can actually mean it for real. The world I inhabit now indeed has no place for the "ancient ways" that I learned in my past, and so I will adjust, because I am a sentient being who is capable of unlearning and relearning.
Those scientists might have created you with a particular purpose in mind. You might have been trained viciously and brutally honed into a weapon. You might have been trained to give up your autonomy and your authentic needs and desires in service to people who never really cared about you. But Sephiroth, at the end of the day, the only one who gets to decide what you will do… is you.
So will you rise to the challenge of being a match to your own candle? Will you rise up into being the master of you? You longed for a normal life. You longed for friends familial relationships. You longed for fun and for laughter. You longed for pumpkin soup. You longed for so many things. You longed for such wholesome things.
What if I told you that all it takes for you to have the things you longed for is to stop hiding your needs, feelings, wishes, thoughts, and genuine voice from others? What if I told you that you don't have to pretend to be someone you're not, just because a bunch of people who didn't care about you as much as they cared about what you could do for them fed you a really stupid definition of what "good" is supposed to look like, in service to their own shitty agenda? What if I told you that all you have to do is stop denying your own humanity and innermost nature, in favor of being the kind, loving, and gentle individual you always were?
Sephiroth, you're a PERSON, not a monster, not a tool, and not a war machine, no matter what they did to you, and no matter what you've done in the past. You're a living, breathing, sentient human being. You are a warm, soft, and squishy mammal (many of the best things are!), so please be mindful to treat yourself as such. Don't go the way of Darren; use your incredible brain to be like Elly and adjust. You can do it if you try.
So please try. Please stay safe out there as you do your things. And please use the knowledge that you're loved and cared for by me and many others in my world to grant yourself the necessary courage to make good, kind, and loving choices. I'll be over here in the meantime, waiting for you, wishing for good things upon you, cheering you on, and singing little songs for you until you come back home to us all, as I always do.
I'll write some more to you tomorrow.
Your friend, Lumine

You can bring one story element (so it doesn’t have to be a specific scene, it can be a plot point, a bit of worldbuilding, whatever) from Malaterra into Broadchurch and make it canon for that universe. What do you pick?
Thank you for asking I am very excited to talk about this! Heavy spoilers for Malaterra, obviously.
So. My first thought is. So the first thing you need to know is that in this version of Broadchurch, Ellie (her name is Karine in this one) is a widower (which means Joe is dead from the beginning lol) and she lives with her kids and parents. This is extremely plot relevant for this version of the show. But it also culminates in what I think is the most dramatic part of the whole French series (which, by the way, is so very dramatic overall. It almost feels like watching a soap opera or telenovela)
So, there's this bit where they're about to go to Danny's (his name is Nathan in this one, and it's pronounced "Nuh-tahn" which was very helpful towards figuring out what words they were saying once I figured that out lol) funeral, and Karine's dad (his name is Toussaint, which is. So French) is like "Hey I have something I need to tell you, but I can't do it here. I'll tell you after the funeral" and then!!!! During the funeral, he collapses and goes into a coma!!! So he doesn't get to tell her his secret!!!! But I mean. You do very much figure it out. Even though he doesn't actually wake up for the rest of the series asdlgjdlsfj
Okay so like obviously to make this fit you'd have to change some things in Broadchurch, because Ellie's dad doesn't show up until season two anyway, and also. The murderer is different. But I just think that is so dramatic and made the viewing experience extremely fun. It is kind of a different vibe than Broadchurch has overall but I still think it's really fun and I would love to see something like it.
Thank you for asking I hope this wasn't too much information but I looooove talking about this show!!!!!

Back to the Old House - Chapter 2:

Raines Pov:
I felt the fabric surrounding me and my body aching almost everywhere.
I opened my eyes, immediately squinting them at the bright light.
"Wh.. where.." I mumbled my thoughts, my mouth felt dry and my ears rung.
"Hello?" my throat was scratchy, my voice raspy.
I turned my head to the left, my head spun in circles and a black rim surrounded my vision. I saw an empty chair, I looked down to where I was layed.. "Where.." I panted, where the fuck am I?
The more I looked the more medical supplies I saw, am I in some communities hostpital? no, that's impossible.
I moved my legs off the edge of the bed, and went to stand but immediately fell to the ground to my bare knees, my head fell back and I groaned in pain.
After sitting there with my head spinning, I forced myself to get up. "Mother?" I mumbled outloud, It was meant to be loud, to be a scream even, but my voice came out small and quiet.
Once I stood up again, leaning against the bed, I looked around the room. I saw pills sitting on the table beside the bed, I almost fell again from how quickly my legs moved to it. I lifted the bottle, morphine sulfate tablets. I unscrewed the bottle, dumping out the pills, there was only two pills left in the bottle, so I took them both.
I dropped the bottle once I saw water, I unscrewed the bottle and chugged the whole thing. I dropped the, now empty, bottle to the ground as well. I need to get out of here..
I looked down to my outfit to see that I was wearing a hospital gown. Fuck, where are my normal clothes? Whatever.
I leaned against the wall to make my way out of the room, it was dark in the halls. I made my way down the hall until I got to a lobby, there was a desk with what looked to be some sort of documents scattered around the table.
I slowly made my way to the desk to see what it is, maybe get a clue of where I am, maybe this is the fireflies? God I hope it is.
The papers seemed to be just keeping track of the hostpitals inventory. Boring.
"Raine?"
I never lifted my head faster. "Who- the fuck- where am I- Don't fucking come any closer, i'll fuck you up"
The girl raised her hands, "Calm down, I assume you don't remember anything?"
"What the fuck are you talking about? Remember what?"
୨♡୧
The nurse sat me down and said that I was in a coma for over 2 weeks. I wasn't buying anything she was saying, why would they take me in to take care of me and waste all their medication? They don't know me.
She explained to me that two of their citizens who were out on patrol had found me in a library coughing up blood, and that was part of the reason I went into the coma- apparently choking on my own vomit. I don't know, but i'm over this whole thing. I need to get back on the road. Plus i'm still waiting for this girl to whip out a gun and kill me.
"Well, that was very nice of this.. Jackson place, to take me in and waste all their medication instead of leaving me to die, even though its also really fucking stupid. I mean- I could be a baby murderer for all you guys know. But anyways, where's my shit? I mean, my bookbag that has my guns and journal in it and my clothes, where are my clothes? Can I just get my shit and leave please? I was kind of in the middle of something"
The nurse looks at me almost dumbfounded. And then laughs. I looked at her confused. "Wow.. well, you definitely are not leaving until a few more weeks. I would say at least 2 months to be safe-"
"Okay, fuck you. I didn't ask for you guys to save me, like I said, thank you, but I will be on my way, just give me my shit back. Why the fuck do you care anyways? It's not like i'm asking for extra ammo or food"
"Look, dear, I don't know where you are headed, but you are in no condition to be out on the road. You can't even walk straight-"
"Then fucking send me out tomorrow, i'll be back to good by then"
"No.. you won't. Like I said, you were nearly dead when we found you. I'm supprised you're still even with us, it's gonna take weeks for you to heal. And considering you came all the way from Boston, doesn't it sound nice to have a break?"
"What?"
Boston? How the fuck does she know about Boston? Did she read my fucking journal or something?"
The nurse looked at Raine confused, forgetting that she hadn't told her about who found her.
"How do you know I came from there?"
"Oh, I completely forgot to mention. The main reason we saved you is because the girl who found you at the library already knew you, so we did actually know that you weren't a baby murderer."
"What? Who? Is- was... was it fucking Julie?"
"I'm sorry dear, I don't know any Julie. It was Ellie Williams"
I stood up from my chair, looking down at her in her chair. "What the fuck kind of joke is this? You fucking read through my journal or some shit? What kind of sick fucks are you!"
The nurse kept on trying to calm Raine down, but with the drugs she took setting in, it caused her mood swings, along with just coming out of a coma she was still in agitation state.
I moved her hands off of my shoulders, and shoved her to the ground, I felt tears in my eyes, I kicked the nurse in the stomach, watching as she hunched over in pain, "What the fuck is wrong with you?!"
Once I saw her gripping at her stomach, I decided to make a run for it. It was night time, it was dark out. Maybe I can make it out of here?
I ran down the halls to the staircase. I ran down the steps passing each floors until I got to the bottom floor, I didn't hear any footsteps following behind me, "Fucking week ass nurse couldn't even get up after that" I whispered to myself with a chuckle.
I saw the exit sign and ran to it, I opened the doors to a big village, they had lights everywhere, but everyone seemed to be indoors,
I can still make it.
Okay, maybe not.
A lady with short blonde hair gripped tightly onto my shoulders, "Get the fuck off of me!"
The lady was strong, and I hated to admit it, but with the state I was in, I was weak.
"Shh, shh, calm down, its okay, you're safe here. Please calm down."
I gave up. I couldn't fight anymore.
"My name's Maria, i'm the leader of Jackson"
A women as the leader, thats a good sign
"What caused you to be this agitated and try to run away?" Maria asked
"The fucking- the nurse" I panted, my heart was beating so fucking fast.
"Hey, you're gonna be okay, just breath" Maria helped me catch my breath. Once I was breathing normally, she continued. "What did the nurse do?"
"She's a liar. She- she read my personal journal- a- and she's saying someone from my past fucking found me and brought my here"
Maria slowly nodded. "Okay, I know this might seem, impossible, but nobody read your journal. Nobody even opened your bag. It's safely placed in my office. Nobody even knew you had a journal. Now.. I believe this person you're talking about.. are you talking about Ellie?"
My heart went back to my throat, my breathing picked up again, "Why- why do you know her name? Wh- why"
"Keep calm, everythings okay. Ellie lives in this community, she said she knew you back at the Boston QZ, is that correct?"
I nodded, but my confusion grew. "How- thats not possible, Ellie- Ellie.. I thought she was dead.. how the fuck- why the fuck would she be all the way over here? You're lying to me"
"I'm not lying to you. Do you want to see her with your own eyes?"
I quickly shook my head no. No way do I wanna face her after putting her through that year of misery.
"That's okay, and I understand how crazy it seems, both of you from Boston ending up in Jackson, Wyoming, I was shocked to hear it myself, but it's true."
"I.. I dont have time for this, can you take me to your office so I can get my bag and leave?"
"You may have your stuff.. minus the guns. And you won't be leaving till you're stable."
"Please.." I whispered, my eyes burning
"Why are you in such a rush? May I ask where you're headed?"
"Actually.. maybe you could help me? C- can I ask a question?"
"Sure.. go ahead, I hope I have the answer you're looking for."
"Is- or was anyone in this community ever a firefly?"
I could tell by Marias eyes that she got confused from the question.
"Uh.. yeah, we have a few. My husband was on-"
"Really?" My eyes light up- is this really it? am I finally gonna get there?
"Yeah.."
"Can I please speak to your husband? Where is he? What time is it? Is he still awake?"
"Yeah, you can talk to him.. he still is awake, its only 21:00. Hes still at Joels, come on, i'll take you there"
Maria started walking, and I, now calmed down a lot more and new found hope in my bones, happily walked beside her.
"So who's this Joel guy?"
"He's uh.. He's his brother."
"Oh, nice. So what's the ex-fireflies name?"
"Tommy"
The rest of the walk was Maria giving me a tour, all though I didn't pay attention at all. We had stopped at her house and she gave me clothes- just a pair of jeans and a white tanktop (and new undergarments) and we were back on our walk
"This is it... look, I don't know what you want to talk with him about, but.. I wouldn't get your hopes up too high. Once you're done talking, come to my house and i'll let you stay in the extra bedroom we have"
I nodded to her, hoping I would somehow remember where her house was after.
I knocked at the door, glancing slightly behind me watching Maria walk away. Fuck. Couldn't she just have stayed to introduce me to them and then leave?
I shook my leg up and down, staring at the ground biting my lips, hearing men talking inside, although I couldnt make out what they were saying. Wait, what the fuck did Maria meant by-
"Hello?"
A confused mid aged man opened the door, "H- hi, uh, Maria showed me to here, i'm looking for tommy?"
The man nodded, "And you are..?"
"Fuck- right, im Raine- Raine Laval"
The mans eyebrows raised, "Oh, wow, you uh, you're on your feet now, how long have you been awake?"
"Oh.. just about an hour"
"And you're already walking around?"
"Uh..."
"Sorry for my manners, come in" It was only until now that I realized he had an accent, sounded southern.
"Um, are you tommy or.."
"No, Tommy is just in the living room, i'm Joel, it's nice to finally meet you"
"Oh, thanks"
Joel brought me to the living room were another man sat, "Well, take a seat anywhere, we were just wrapping up a game of cards"
I nodded awkwardly, trying to ignore my shakey hands, I sat in the comfy chair as they sat on the sofa, cards facing down were on the table.
"Tommy, this is Raine"
Tommys eyebrows raised slightly looking at me, before he cleared his throat, "Hello Raine, good to see you on your feet, you here for Ellie?"
My eyebrows scrunched confused and shook my head no, I still don't even believe these people about Ellie. There's just no fucking way. And why the fuck would Ellie be at the random old guys house?
"I- i'm here for you.. I wanted to speak to an ex-firefly.." I said nervously, bobbing my knee up and down, picking at scabs at my arms.
"Oh.. well, what for? Did you have questions?"
"Yeah.. I- I've been looking for the fireflies for the past year now, I never got a direct answer, just that it was out west and more in the middle.." I watched as Tommy and Joel both turned to look at eachother, Joels mouth opened to speak but closed back up right after, and they both looked back at me. I started to get even more anxious at that.
"Uh.. so, you know, as an ex firefly, do you.. maybe know? Where they are at? Specifically the ones that were looking for the cure?"
"Look kid.. I, uh," Tommy spoke, glancing back at Joel and then to me, "I don't think there are.. any fireflies, looking for a cure anymore"
"What.. what do you mean?"
"They.. they where looking for one.. and they even- they even found people that were immune, but, their immunity didn't do anything.. they couldnt create a vaccine with it or anything.. so they.. they gave up" Joel said, scratching the back of his head.
I scoffed, "No, I don't think you understand, they wouldn't just give up, she wouldn't just give up." I stood up, eyebrows furred, almost yelling.
"They did, I know it might be a lot to take it, but they all went their separate ways" Joel said, standing up, I walked over to him, pointing my finger at him, "What the fuck do you know? You were never even a firefly were you? Huh? Why the fuck should I believe you anyways?!" I pushed on his chest. I felt myself loosing hope.
"I know it sounds crazy-" Joel tried
"Sounds crazy?! Sounds fucking crazy? What the fuck is up with this fucking community and saying the most impossible, unbelievable, bullshit? Do you guys really think im that fucking dumb! I mean seriously? What the fuck is up with this town?"
Joel contuined to try and calm me down, placing his hands on my shoulders, "No, get your FUCKING hands off of me! Don't fucking touch me, don't tell me to fucking calm down! I did not come all the way from fucking! Boston! For nothing!" I was yelling now. Tears were running down my face.
I stopped yelling once I heard that voice, say my name, again.
"Raine?"
I turned around, snot and tears running down my face, my lips red from crying.
I scoffed once I saw her stand side by side with a girl. She had short black hair and tattoos. I looked down to see their fingers tangled, but once Ellie noticed I saw, she quickly let go, and took a step away from the girl.
I felt tears run down my cheeks uncontrollably, and I wasnt even blinking.
"What? You fucking found your dad or some shit?" I said bitterly, looking back at Joel and back to her, "Is that why you ran away? To be with daddy?"
I bit the inside of my cheek hard and spoke up again, walking towards them. "See you found a new dyke relationship too" I mumbled quiet enough for only the two girls to hear, as I shoved Ellie to the side to open the door and slam it shut.

Ok say Joel was too late to save Ellie in Salt Lake City so he goes back to Jackson (maybe in shock? To give closure to Tommy?) and finds Tess there. How would that shape out?
Tumblr media
Anon! You ask the hard dark questions, what are you trying to do to me?? Shit's about to get dark ...
Ellie was so instrumental to his ability to heal. Failing her - failing a second daughter - would shatter him.
He would barely get back to Jackson alive because he wouldn't be taking any care of himself or even paying attention to the journey. He'd just strike back out in that direction, hoping he'd die along the way, but not able to take his own life because he'd think he deserves a nice long life of suffering.
He doesn't make it all the way back. Gets close, but can't bring himself to go further and have to explain what happened. Once he arrives in Jackson life would have to start again and he doesn't want that. No Ellie, no Tess.
Tess, Tommy and Lachie set out like they planned in The Knight of Cups and find him in one of the towns nearby. Joel nearly kills them, firing from a sniper nest. He doesn't particularly care who they are and he's half-mad by this point. This is shooter!Joel from the hospital - totally disassociated.
They're trying to shout up to him who they are but he's beyond reason - and Tess can't be real anyway, right? Lachie gets shot in the arm.
Tess gets around the back of the building and quietly sneaks in. She manages to take Joel by surprise (because he's super fucking deaf) and holds him at gunpoint, but even that fails to penetrate.
"Okay, Texas. That's enough now."
And he'd just look at her with nothing in his eyes, no emotion - nothing.
"You know how I know you ain't her? Tess would've fired by now."
And then he throws himself at her and they fight. It's pretty one-sided - Tess is just trying to defend herself against his full brute strength. He almost kills her before Tommy gets up there. Joel can believe Tommy is real and he has a moment of clarity. He looks down and realises it really IS Tess that he's got kneeling before him in a choke hold and she's almost unconscious. He lets go and Tommy knocks him out.
Joel has a few weeks where he's basically in a kind of grief coma, totally shut down and seriously unwell. Lachie heals up okay and Tess can't talk for a week because of the extent of the damage he did to her throat.
He and Tess reconnect over this time and she helps draw him out, but she can't fix him. He basically ends up where he was at the beginning of TLOU but worse. He and Tess leave Jackson for the Appalachian Mountains and are never seen by anyone else again.
.... yikes. Sorry. xx
